He also critizised officials of 2008 Cricket Board for fogetting about him once he sustain the injury and he said it was IPL at that time which helped him to return to the national side as he took 18 wickets in 8 matches.
Currently he is the leading wicket taker in IPL this year (2011) with 16 wickets in his bag in 6 matches.
He had also handed in his resignation letter from the long format of the game to cricket selectors on the same day. Malinga decided to retire as a result of his long standing knee issue in his right leg.
